(The) Fox
The fox went out on a chilly night
She prayed for the moon to give her light,
For she'd many a mile to go that night
Before she reached the town-o!
Town-o! town-o!
She'd many a mile to go that night
Before she reached the town-o.

Well, she ran til she came to a great big pen,
Where the ducks and the geese were kept therein
"A couple of you are gonna grease my chin
Before I leave this town-o!
Town-o! town-o!
A couple of you are gonna grease my chin
Before I leave this town-o."

Then old Father Flipper Flopper jumped out of bed,
She ran to the window and she cocked her head,
Crying, "Ma, Ma! The gray goose is gone
And the fox is on the town-o!
Town-o! town-o!"
Crying, "Ma, Ma! The gray goose is gone
And the fox is on the town-o!"

Then Ma she ran to the top of the hill,
She blew her horn both loud and shrill.
The fox she said, "I'd better flee with my kill--
Or they'll soon be on my trail-o!
Trail-o! trail-o!"
The fox she said, "I'd better flee with my kill--
Or they'll soon be on my trail-o!"

She grabbed the gray goose by his neck,
And threw a duck across her back;
Oh she didn't mind the "Quack, quack, quack!"
And their legs all dangling down-o!
Down-o! down-o!
Oh she didn't mind the "Quack, quack, quack!"
And their legs all dangling down-o.

Oh she ran till she came to her own den,
And there were the little ones, eight, nine, ten,
Saying, "Mommy, Mommy, better go back again,
'Cause it must be a mighty fine town-o!
Town-o! town-o!"
They said, "Mommy, Mommy, better go back again,
'Cause it must be a mighty fine town-o!

Then the fox and his wife without any strife,
They cut up the goose with a fork and knife.
They never had such a supper in their life,
And the little ones chewed on the bones-o!
Bones-o! bones-o!
They never had such a supper in their life,
And the little ones chewed on the bones-o!
