One night when little susie crawled between the
sheets
She heard a funny noise just before she went to sleep
She stuck her head beneath her bed and much to her surprise
There was a great big alligator and it looked her in the eye
So Susie called her mama, "Mama, please come quick
There's an alligator under my bed I think I'm gonna be sick."
Her mama looked up from her book and said most patiently
"That's very nice. Now, Susie, it's time to go to sleep.
chorus:
Go to sleep now Susie
You know it isn't true
What would an alligator
Be doing under you?
Alligators live in ponds:
They don't live under beds
Go to sleep now Susie
And rest your little head
SO THAT GATOR LOOK AT SUZY AND THEN HE LICKED HIS TEETH
HE LOOKED AT HER AS IF SHE WERE A CHOCOLATE COVERED TREAT
HE STARTED CRAWLING TOWARD HER WITH THE SUZY EATING LOOK
THEN SHE WHACKED HIM ON THE HEAD WITH HER FAIRY TALE BOOK
NOW A WHACK UPON THE HEAD WILL MAKE A GATOR STOP
AND THEN UPON THE END OF HIS NOSE SHE GAVE ANOTHER WOP
SHE CALLED OUT TO HER FATHER, 'DAD QUICK HE'S STARTING TO COME OUT'
BUT HER FATHER WAS LESS PATIENT AND HE BEGAN TO SHOUT
chorus:
Go to sleep now Susie
You know it isn't true
What would an alligator
Be doing under you?
Alligators live in ponds:
They don't live under beds
Go to sleep now Susie
And rest your little head
SO SUZY GAVE THAT GATOR ANOTHER GREAT BIG WHACK
THEN THAT ALLIGATOR SAID 'HEM, MIGHT NOT REALLY NEED HER FOR A SNACK
THAT GIRL IS JUST A MOUTH FULL SHE'S ONLY EIGHT OR NINE
BUT I DO BELIEVE HER DISBELIEVING PARENTS WOULD TASTE JUST FINE'
SO THE GATOR TURNED AROUND AND HE SLITHERED DOWN THE STAIRS
HE SWALLOWED UP BOTH HER PARENTS THEY WERE SITTING IN THERE CHAIRS
SUZY HEARD A GREAT BIG GULP AND THEN SHE COULD HAVE SWORN
SHE HEARD THAT ALLIGATOR AND HE WAS SINGING THAT SONG
chorus:
Go to sleep now Susie
You know it isn't true
What would an alligator
Be doing under you?
Alligators live in ponds:
They don't live under beds
Go to sleep now Susie
And rest your little head
SO SUZY SAT UP IN HER BED AND CRIED 'OH HELP I'M ALL ALONG'
JUST THEN SHE HEARD A VOICE CRY OUT <knocking> IS ANYBODY HOME
IT WAS HER FAVORITE UNCLE THE ONE CALLED HANDSOME JOHN
WELL HE HEARD ALL THE GULPING AND WHACKING HE CAME TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON
SO SUZY TOLD HERE STORY AND JOHN HE TOOK IT IN
THEN HE MARCH RIGHT UP TO THAT GATOR AND TICKLED HIM ON CHIN
THAT GATOR GAVE A HICCUP AND HE HICCUPPED AND HE COULDN'T STOP
AND WITH ANOTHER GREAT BIG HICCUP OUT HER PARENTS POPPED
(and they where still singing that song)
chorus:
Go to sleep now Susie
You know it isn't true
What would an alligator
Be doing under you?
Alligators live in ponds:
They don't live under beds
Go to sleep now Susie
And rest your little head
NOW TO EACH AND EVERY STORY, THERE'S THAT MORAL AT THE END
THE PART THAT TELLS YOU HOW NOT TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES AGAIN
WELL I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS STORY AND AFTER THINKING IT ALL OUT
I THINK THE MORAL TO THE STORY IS TO BE CAREFUL WHENEVER YOU HEAR A GROWN UP SHOUT.
chorus:
Go to sleep now Susie
You know it isn't true
What would an alligator
Be doing under you?
Alligators live in ponds:
They don't live under beds
Go to sleep now Susie
And rest your little head
